Hasan condoles death of ex-Gana Parishad member Zahirul Islam

DHAKA, May 18, 2020 (BSS) – Information Minister and Awami League joint general secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today expressed deep shock at the death of advocate Zahirul Islam, a former member of Gana Parishad (Constituent Assembly of Bangladesh) and a close associate of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

In a condolence message, he said advocate Zahirul Islam was a former lawmaker, a former governor, an ex-general secretary of Cox’s Bazar district Awami League, an organiser of Liberation War, a veteran politician and a close associate of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

“We are deeply shocked at his death,” Hasan added.

He prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul of the ex-AL leader and expressed his sympathy to the bereaved family.

Advocate Zahirul Islam, an ex-general secretary of Cox’s Bazar district Awami League and former president of Cox’s Bazar District Bar Association, died of old-age complications at his Chattogram city residence this noon at the age of 80.
