Mobile court fines Tk 1.06 lakh in Hakimpur

RANGPUR, May 18, 2020 (BSS) – A mobile court fined 18 traders and
vermicelli factory owners Taka 1.06 lakh for violating health
directives and producing vermicelli in an unhygienic environment in
Hakimpur upazila of Dinajpur today.

Hakimpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Abdur
Rafiul Alam led the mobile court, filed 18 cases and disposed those
off by realising Taka 1.06 lakh as penalty from the owners of the
shops and vermicelli factories.

The mobile court fined the traders for keeping their shops open not
abiding by the health directives and allowing a huge rush of buyers
from other upazilas.

Besides, the vermicelli factory owners were fined under Section 42
of the Consumers’ Right Protection Act, 2009 for producing vermicelli
in an unhygienic and dirty environment.

Similar drives will continue to prevent community transmission of
coronavirus and prevent food adulteration in the upazila, the
Executive Magistrate said.
