Three food factories fined Tk one lakh in Saidpur

RANGPUR, May 18, 2020 (BSS) – The Department of National Consumer Rights
Protection fined three factories Taka one lakh for producing sub-standard
food products under an unhygienic environment at Saidpur BSCIC Industrial
town of Nilphamari today.

The surveillance team of the divisional office of the Department of
National Consumer Rights Protection conducted the raids and fined the factory
owners for violating the Consumers’ Right Protection Act, 2009.

Divisional Deputy Director of the Department of National Consumer Rights
Protection Md. Jahangir Alam and its Assistant Director Md. Borhan Uddin led
the market surveillance drives and fined the factory owners.

The surveillance team fined owners of ‘Khushbu Food Products’ Taka 40,000,
‘Khalil Vermicelli Factory’ Taka 40,000 and ‘Rose Food Products’ Taka 20,000
during the drives at Saidpur BSCIC Industrial town.

Jahangir Alam told reporters that similar drives will continue at different
bazaars and markets across Rangpur division as a part of the regular market
surveillance activities for strict enforcement of the Consumers’ Right
Protection Act, 2009.

The Crime Prevention Company (CPC) of Nilphamari camp of Rapid Action
Battalion (RAB)-13 and sanitary section of Saidpur municipality assisted the
Department of National Consumer Rights Protection in conducting the drives.
