Rangpur DCIH discharges 6 more Covid-19 patients

RANGPUR, May 17, 2020 (BSS) – The authority of Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospital (DCIH) in Rangpur today discharged six more recovered coronavirus (Covid-19) patients, bidding them a pleasant farewell.

The recovered patients were discharged from the DCIH, an extension of Rangpur Medical College Hospital, after disappearance of symptoms. They were also tested coronavirus negative in two consecutive real-time PCR tests.

“The total number of released patients from the DCIH rose to 36 now,” Superintendent of the DCIH Dr. SM Nurun Nabi told BSS this afternoon.

The discharged six patients are: health worker Nazmun Nahar, Nurses Rezwana and Shahina Pervin, General Manager of Karupannya Rangpur Limited Syed Anwar Habib and Somsher Ali of Rangpur city.

The doctors and other staff of the facility bade farewell to the six recovered patients with flowers and discharge certificates in a brief function, declaring them “recovered” before they returned home with smiling faces.

“The six discharged patients were admitted to the DCIH between May 7 and May 9 after they were diagnosed COVID-19 positive,” Dr. Nabi said.

Earlier on May 16, recovered physician Dr. Kamrul Eman Rashed, a student of Doctor of Medicine (MD in Paediatrics (thesis part) at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University was discharged from the DCIH after his recovery.

On May 15, fifteen recovered patients including brothers, nurses and hospital staff, seven policemen and two civilians were discharged from the hospital with recovery certificates and flowers.

On May 12, five recovered coronavirus patients including two physicians and a nurse were released from the DCIH.

On last May 9, four recovered coronavirus patients including, a Nurse, a Medical Technologist, a Traffic Sergeant and a student were discharged from the DCIH.

Two coronavirus patients including a health worker and a housewife were released on May 6 last.

On May 4 last, two coronavirus infected physicians were released from the DCIH after their recovery.

“On April 29 last, recovered coronavirus patient Moslem Uddin, 80, was discharged for the first time from the DCIH,” Dr. Nabi said.

Since the launching of treatments at the DCIH from April 19, a total of 71 coronavirus patients were admitted there from where 36 patients have so far been discharged after their recovery.

“Currently, 35 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatments at the 100-bed DCIH that has facilities of 90 general beds and 10 beds with 10 ventilators at its intensive care unit (ICU),” Dr. Nabi added.
