Govt distributes 14,035 tonnes of rice, Tk 7.06cr in Khulna division
KHULNA, May 17, 2020 (BSS) – The government has so far distributed 14,034.65 tonnes of rice and Taka 7.06 crore in cash among 22.19 lakh jobless and needy families in Khulna division in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
“Till today, we distributed 14,034.65 tonnes of rice among 12.91lakh families and Taka 7.06 crore in cash among 9.28 lakh families in the division,” Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Hossain Ali Khondokar told BSS.
The government has so far allocated 22,607.43 tonnes of rice and Taka 10.63 crore as special relief for the jobless and needy people of all 10 districts in Khulna division to help them cope with the COVID-19 situation.
“As on Sunday, the district administrations in 10 districts of Khulna division have stocks of 8,572.78 tonnes of rice and Taka 3.57 crore as the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief is allocating more rice and money frequently,” Hossain said.
The district and upazila administrations with assistance of the union level public representatives are distributing the rice and money under strict monitoring in the division.
