KCC mayor distributes foodstuffs, money among 5,793 destitute people

KHULNA, May 17, 2020 (BSS) – Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque distributed foodstuffs, cash money among 5,793 distressed, needy and jobless people yesterday as the government continues its efforts to mitigate the destitute people’s sufferings rendered by the COVID-19 pandemic.

City mayor distributed 181 mounds of rice and others relief materials among 725 needy, jobless and destitute people in Khalishpur area in the city at the initiative by North-West Power Generation Company Limited.

Each of the beneficiaries received a sac containing 10-kg rice, potato, onion, soya-bin oil, pulse, soaps and iodized salt.

General Secretary of Khulna city Awami League MDA Babul Ranaa,Executive Engineer of North-West Power Generation Company Limited Md. Ejaz Masum, word councillor’s, among others, accompanied the mayor.

Later, the mayor dispensed 450 mounds of rice, cash Taka 2,56,800 and others relief materials among 2,568 needy, jobless, jute mill workers and destitute people at different ward’s in the city aimed at mitigating their financial hardship amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation by strictly maintaining physical distancing.

Each of the beneficiaries received a sac containing 7-kg rice and Taka 100 for purchasing other essentials as a part of the government’s instant humanitarian support programme.

The mayor also distributed essentials relief materials among 2,500 Jute bowling workers at an initiative by Doulotpur Jute Association.
