KHULNA, May 17, 2020 (BSS) – Thirteen more persons were diagnosed coronavirus (COVID-19) positive after testing their samples at the three COVID -19 laboratories in the division in last 24 hours till 12 noon today, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 315.
The newly detected 13 COVID-19 patients include four in Chuadanga, two each in Bagerhat, Satkhira, and Kustia, one each in Khulna, Jashore and Narail districts under the division.
“We received 188 samples of suspected coronavirus patients at KMC in Khulna and other samples in Jashore and Kustia laboratories in the last 24 hours and 13 of those were found COVID-19 positive,” said Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akther.
Three COVID-19 laboratories are now operating at Khulna Medical College (KMC) in Khulna, ‘Genome Center’ of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) and Kushtia General Hospital, she said.
She informed that the total number of infected patients rose to 315 after testing their samples at the three regional COVID-19 laboratories till today 12 noon today, since April 7.
Of the total 315 patients, 20 are in Khulna, nine in Bagerhat, five in Satkhira, 91 in Jashore, 43 in Jhenaidah, 19 in Magura, 16 in Narail, 24 in Kustia, 82 in Chuadanga and six in Meherpur, she said.
Of them, so far, 64 patients are undergoing treatment at the isolation ward, 100 were released after recovery and the rest of the patients are taking treatment at their respective homes.
The cured persons include 12 in Khulna, two in Bagerhat, 50 in Jashore, five of Jhenaidah, four of Magura, one of Narail, 18 of Kustia, six of Chuadanga and two in Meherpur districts in Khulna division, Dr. Ferdousi said.
Six COVID-19 infected patients have already died. Of them, two are in Khulna, one each of Bagerhat, Chuadanga, Narail and Meherpur districts, she added.
Besides, one more COVID-19 positive case was detected in Khulna. The patients is a 22-year youth who is a resident of 47/1 Goljar para under Sonadanga thana in Khulna city, an officials said of Khulna civil surgeon office here today.
The local administration has imposed lockdown in the area last night.
