Physician recovers from Covid-19 infection in Rangpur

RANGPUR, May 16, 2020 (BSS) – A coronavirus (Covid-19) infected physician
was discharged from the 100-bed Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospital (DCIH) in
Rangpur today after his recovery.

The recovered physician is Dr. Kamrul Iman Rashed hailing from Keranipara
area in Rangpur metropolis.

“Dr. Rashed is currently a student of Doctor of Medicine (MD in Pediatrics
(thesis part) at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in
Dhaka,” Superintendent of the DCIH Dr. SM Nurun Nabi told BSS this afternoon.

Earlier, Dr Rashed guessed symptoms of coronavirus in him after returning
from Dhaka to Rangpur recently.

Later, he was tested coronavirus positive and admitted to the DCIH, an
extension of Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH), on May 3 last.

“Like in the cases of other recovered COVID-19 infected patients, we
discharged Dr. Rashed today following the disappearance of his symptoms and
he was found coronavirus negative after two real-time PCR tests
consecutively,” Dr. Nabi added.

With the release of Dr. Rashed today, the total number of released
coronavirus patients of Rangpur division from the DCIH rose to 30.

Since beginning Covid-19 treatment at the DCIH from April 19 last, a total
of 68 patients were diagnosed coronavirus positive and admitted to the
hospital from where 30 patients have so far been discharged after their
recovery.

Currently, 38 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at the DCIH
that has 90 general beds for male and female patients and facilities of 10
beds with 10 ventilators at its intensive care unit (ICU).

“We are bidding farewell to every recovered coronavirus infected patient
with flowers and discharge certificates declaring them “recovered” bringing
wide-ranging smiles on their faces,” Dr. Nabi added.
