Alleged drug peddler killed in gun fight with RAB in city
DHAKA, May 15,2020 (BSS) – A man was killed in a gunfight between members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and a group of miscreants at Banani area in the city last night.
The dead was identified as Jalil, 45, who was a drug peddler, RAB said.
“The gun fight took place between a group of drug paddlers and the RAB members at Banani T & T Karail Bottola area at around 12.30am on Friday,” said Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Assistant Director (Media) Sujoy Sarker.
Acting on a tip-off, the RAB-1 members raided the drug trading spot and sensing the presence of the elite force, the drug traders, led by Jalil, all on a sudden opened fire on the RAB men, who then retaliated. At one stage, Jalil was injured, said RAB-1 SP Kamruzzaman.
The RAB sent Jalil, who was accused in sixteen cases, to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and the duty doctor declared him dead.
RAB member Kamrul was also injured in the incident.
Two foreign pistols, two magazines ,eleven rounds of bullets and 500 pieces yaba tablets were recovered from the spot.
Three cases were filed with Banani police station in this connection.
