Condolences pour in for Prof Anisuzzaman

DHAKA, May 14, 2020 (BSS) – Tributes and condolences continue to pour in
for eminent educationists Professor Dr Anisuzzaman, who breathed his last
this afternoon at a city hospital at the age of 83.

Immediately after his demise, people from all walks of life expressed
shocks at the death of the valiant freedom fighter.

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound
shock and sorrow at the death of Anisuzzaman.

In his condolence message, the President said Prof Dr Anisuzzaman was a
shining star of Bengali literature and culture.

He played a very significant role in improving the quality of education in
Bangladesh, he said, adding that his (Anisuzzaman’s) death is truly an
irreparable loss to Bangladesh.

Hamid prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and convoyed deep
sympathy to the bereaved family.

In her condolence message, the Prime Minister recalled with profound
respect the outstanding contributions of Prof Anisuzzaman to the field of
education and all democratic movements including the 1952 language movement,
the 1969 mass upsurge and the 1971 liberation war.

She also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep
sympathy to the bereaved family.

educationist Professor Anisuzzamam.
