Govt allocates Tk 30.63 cr for city corporations, municipalities to fight coronavirus, dengue
DHAKA, May 14, 2020 (BSS) – The Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives on Thursday allocated Tk 30.63 crore for the city corporations and municipalities across the country to combat the spread of coronavirus and dengue.
“Twelve city corporations will receive Tk 16.50 crore while 328 municipalities will get Tk 14.13 crore to prevent coronavirus and dengue,” said an official handout.
Of the special allocation for the city corporations, Tk 2 crore will be given to Dhaka North, Dhaka South, Chattogram and Gazipur City Corporation each while Tk 1.5 crore for Narayanganj City Corporation and Tk 1 crore each for Khulna, Rajshahi, Barishal, Sylhet, Cumilla, Rangpur and Mymensingh City Corporations, according to a separate office order signed by Local Government Division Deputy Secretary Farzana Mannan.
Of the total Tk 14.13 cr allocation for municipalities, Tk 5.50 lakh was given for ‘A’ category municipality of Zila Sadar.
A total of Tk 4.25 lakh has been allocated for ‘A’ category municipalities while Tk 4 lakh for ‘B’ category municipalities and Tk 3.50 lakh for ‘C’ category municipalities.
