25 more test positive for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, May 14, 2020 (BSS) – Twenty-five more people, including a
physician, seven members of police and three Ansar members, were tested
positive for coronavirus today at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in Rangpur
division.

Of them, 22 infected patients were found at the COVID-19 Laboratory at
Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur while three others at the COVID-19
Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College ((MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

Talking to BSS, Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task
Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said 22 people
were tested positive for coronavirus after diagnosing 188 samples in Rangpur
today.

They include six policemen and a female constable of Rangpur, a nurse and
baby of Mithapukur upazila, two people of Gangachara upazila, three Ansar
members of Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RpMCH) and three of Rangpur
metropolis of Rangpur district.

“Besides, they include a physician of Patgram Upazila Health Complex and an
employee of Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital in Lalmonirhat and two persons of
Kurigram and one of Gaibandha districts,” Professor Dr. Lyzu added.

Meanwhile, three new infected patients were found after testing 188 samples
at the COVID-19 Laboratory at MARMC in Dinajpur today.

“The three new infected patients include two of different areas in Dinajpur
and one of Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Shibesh
Sarker told BSS at 7:45 pm.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur
division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of coronavirus patients rose
to 404 with the infection of 23 new people in Rangpur division today.

“The district-wise break up of the COVID-19 patients now stands at 173 in
Rangpur, 15 in Panchagarh, 53 in Nilphamari, 16 in Lalmonirhat, 40 in
Kurigram, 25 in Thakurgaon, 57 in Dinajpur and 25 Gaibandha districts in the
division,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
