15 more COVID-19 patients released from hospital in Rangpur

RANGPUR, May 14, 2020 (BSS) – Fifteen more coronavirus (COVID-19) patients including six brothers, nurses and hospital staff, seven policemen and two civilians were released today from the Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospital (DCIH) in Rangpur city.

“We are discharging patients after disappearance of symptoms and tested for coronavirus negative after two real-time PCR tests,” said Dr. SM Nurun Nabi, Superintendent of the DCIH, an extension of Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH).

The total number of released patients from the DCIH rose to 29 with the release of 15 more revered patients today.

The newly discharged 15 patients from the DCIH include brothers Forkan Ali and Fahinur, nurses Shirin Akhter and Mamata Akhter and staff Noman of RMCH and staff Rabiul of Mithapukur Upazila Health Complex.

Seven members of Bangladesh Police of Rangpur Police Lines Mashiur, Nahid Hasan Joydeb, Neel Kamal, Siraj Uddin, Matiar and Shakil were released today.

“Besides, two civilians Babul Ghosh of Mithapukur upazila and Dabir Uddin of Rangpur metropolis were discharged from the DCIH today after their recovery,” Dr. Nabi said.

Earlier, five coronavirus patients including two physicians and a nurse were released from the DCIH on May 12 after their recovery.

They are Dr. Ahad Boksh, Dr. Rokan and nurse Tarzina of RMCH, Sub-assistant community medical officer of Mithapukur Upazila Health Complex in Rangpur Md. Salman and Laboni Begum of Gaibandha.

On May 9, coronavirus patients including, Nurse Rina Chowdhury of Rangpur, Medical Technologist Anisur Rahman of Mithapukur in Rangpur, Traffic Sergeant Foysal Mamun of Gobindaganj in Gaibandha and student Mukhtar Hossain of Thakurgaon were discharged from the DCIH after their recovery.

Two coronavirus patients, including staff Anisur Rahman of Mithapukur Upazila Health Complex in Rangpur and housewife Marjina Akhter Babita of Sadar upazila in Thakurgaon were released on May 6 last.

On May 4 last, two coronavirus infected Medical Officers of Mithapukur Upazila Health Complex in Rangpur Dr. Abdul Halim and Dr. Afsana Liza, were released from the DCIH after recovery.

“Besides, coronavirus infected patients Moslem Uddin, 80, of Badarganj upazila in Rangpur was discharged for the first time from the DCIH on April 29 last after his recovery,” Dr. Nabi said.

Since launching treatments at the DCIH from April 19 last, a total of 48 coronavirus patients were admitted to the hospital from where 29 patients have so far been discharged after their recovery.

“Currently, 19 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatments at the 100-bed DCIH that has facilities of 10 beds with 10 ventilators at its intensive care unit (ICU),” Dr. Nabi added.

Earlier, all of the 48 patients were diagnosed with coronavirus positive and subsequently, they were hospitalized at the DCIH beginning from April 19 last till date.
The doctors, nurses and other staff of the facility are bidding farewells to the recovered patients with flowers and discharge certificates declaring them “recovered” bringing wide-ranging smiles on their faces.
