BGB distributes foodstuffs to 4,000 jobless families

RANGPUR, May 14, 2020 (BSS) – Rangpur 51 Battalion and Nilphamari 56 Battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) completed distribution of foodstuffs among 4,000 jobless frontier families under their jurisdictions on Wednesday.

The foodstuffs were distributed in two phases since the last week of April among jobless frontier people of Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat and Panchagarh with assistance of Bidyananda Foundation in the wake of coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Two separate press releases issued by Rangpur 51 Battalion and Nilphamari 56 Battalion of BGB respectively on Wednesday afternoon said.

Commanding Officer of Rangpur 51 BGB Battalion Lt. Colonel Muhammad Isahaque distributed foodstuffs among 400 jobless frontier families of Dimla upazila in Nilphamari maintaining physical distance on Wednesday.

Earlier, foodstuffs were distributed among 600 jobless and distressed frontier people of Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat on Tuesday.

Besides, Rangpur 51 BGB Battalion distributed foodstuffs among 1,000 jobless frontier families of Lalmonirhat and Nilphamari last month.

Each of the beneficiary families received a sac containing four kg each of rice and flour, two kg of pulse and one kg of iodized salt.

Similarly, Commanding Officer of Nilphamari 56 BGB Battalion Lt. Colonel Md. Mamunul Haque distributed foodstuffs among 410 jobless, distressed and needy frontier families of Domar upazila in Nilphamari on Wednesday.

Simultaneously, foodstuffs were distributed among 590 jobless families of different bordering areas in Panchagarh on the day.

Besides, Nilphamari 56 BGB Battalion distributed foodstuffs among 1,000 jobless frontier families of Nilphamari and Panchagarh on April 27 and 30 last.

Each of the beneficiary families got a sac containing six kg of rice, one kg of chickpea, two kg of flour, 500 milliliters of edible oil, 500 gram of iodized salt, one packet of biscuits and two packets of noodles.

With this, Rangpur 51 and Nilphamari 56 BGB Battalions completed distribution of foodstuffs among 4,000 jobless and distressed families of different frontier areas under their respective jurisdictions on Wednesday.
