One held with 59-kg ganja in Rangpur
RANGPUR, May 14, 2020 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) seized 59-kg of smuggled ganja and a mini truck and arrested a presumed drug trader from Mohipur area in Gangachara upazila of the district on Wednesday afternoon.
“An operational team of RAB-13 from its Rangpur headquarters searched the mini truck there and arrested the drug trader with the huge quantity of smuggled ganja,” a press release said today.
The elite force seized the ganja packed in several sacs and the mini truck that was moving in the guise of carrying perishable vegetables on an emergency basis, a mobile phone set and cash money from the possession of the arrested person.
The arrested drug trader is Aminul Islam, 28, son of Abdul Malek of village Shuvarkuthi in Halokhana union of Phulbari upazila in Kurigram district.
During interrogation, the arrested person admitted that he was tactfully carrying the smuggled ganja aboard the mini truck from the frontier areas of Kurigram to Bogura district.
“He confessed that he had been trafficking ganja and other drugs from the frontier areas by the mini truck loaded with various perishable vegetables and trading those in other areas of the country for a long time,” the release added.
After filing a case in this connection, the elite force handed over the arrested drug trader to Gangachara Model police station in the district.
