17 more test positive for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, May 13, 2020 (BSS) – Seventeen more people, including four women,
were tested positive for coronavirus today at the two COVID-19 Laboratories
at Rangpur and Dinajpur in Rangpur division.

Of them, 12 infected patients were found at the COVID-19 Laboratory at
Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur while five others at the COVID-19
Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College ((MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said 12 people were tested
positive for coronavirus after diagnosing 188 samples in Rangpur today.

They include nine of Rangpur and three of Kurigram districts.

“The nine new infected patients of Rangpur include three Ansar members of
Rangpur Medical College Hospital, its one liftman, two women and a man of
Munshipara area of the city and one each of Gangachara and Taraganj
upazilas,” he said.

The three new infected patients of Kurigram include a man and a woman of
Sadar upazila and an employee of Chilmari Upazila Health Complex.

Meanwhile, five new infected patients, including a woman, were found after
testing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at MARMC in Dinajpur today.

“The five new infected patients include two males each of Biral and Sadar
upazilas and a woman of Birganj upazila in Dinajpur,” Principal of MARMC
Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS tonight.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur
division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of coronavirus patients rose
to 380 with the infection of 17 new positive cases in Rangpur division today.

“The district-wise break up of the COVID-19 patients now stands at 156 in
Rangpur, 13 in Panchagarh, 52 in Nilphamari, 14 in Lalmonirhat, 37 in
Kurigram, 25 in Thakurgaon, 59 in Dinajpur and 24 Gaibandha districts in the
division,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
