Sadhan for selecting real farmers of Boro cultivation via lottery
DHAKA, May 13, 2020 (BSS)- Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder today
directed all concerned to select the actual farmers through lottery who have
recently cultivated Boro paddy in the current season.
“The final list of the names of the selected farmers must be pasted (or to
be hanged) at information centre of union office following lottery so that
everyone can see it. These works should be done with transparency and
accountability,” he said.
The food minister made the remarks in a video conference with the Dhaka
division officials of his ministry from the minister’s official residence on
Minto Road here.
In a video conference, the minister discussed in details the situation of
coronavirus in each district under Dhaka division.
Sadhan also discussed about current Boro paddy harvesting and threshing and
official procurement of paddy and rice.
He said that there is a procurement committee in every upazila for the
collection of paddy and rice.
The committee will go to each union and conduct lottery in the presence of
the farmers, he added.
Dr Mosammat Nazmanara Khanum, Secretary of Ministry of Food, also joined
the video conference, among others.
