RANGPUR, May 13, 2020 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested a
youth from Purbo Bhelabari village under Aditmari upazila of Lalmonirhat
today for spreading false, instigating and defamatory information.
“On a tip off, an operational team of the Crime Prevention Specialised
Company (CPSC) of RAB-13 from Rangpur arrested the youth from the spot in the
early hours of today,” said a press release issued here this afternoon.
The arrested youth is Mominul Haque, 28, son of Monwar Hossain of village
Purbo Bhelabari in Bhelabari union of Aditmari upazila in Lalmonirhat
district.
The elite force seized 10 photocopies of documents containing derogatory
information damaging the image of the state and defaming its most important
persons, two mobile phone sets, four SIM cards and a memory card from his
possession.
“The arrested youth has been using his Facebook ID titled “Chhatra Dal
Bhelabari Union Branch” and his mobile phone for a long time to spread false,
obscene, defamatory and provocative information against the Father of the
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and important people of the state,
including the Prime Minister and the state,” the release said.
During primary interrogation, the arrested youth admitted his involvement
with conducting provocative, derogatory and defamatory activities against the
state and its most important persons using his Facebook ID for a long time.
“After filing a case in this connection, the elite force handed over the
arrested youth to Aditmari police station today,” the release added.
