BGB distributes foodstuffs to 1,000 jobless families in Panchagarh

RANGPUR, May 13, 2020 (BSS) – Members of the Panchagarh 18 Battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) continues distributing foodstuffs among 1,000 jobless and distressed families of different frontier areas under its jurisdiction in Panchagarh.

The foodstuffs are being distributed since Monday among the jobless, distressed and needy frontier people with assistance of the Bidyananda Foundation to stand beside them in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Thakurgaon Sector Commander of BGB Colonel Murad Zaman distributed foodstuffs among 200 jobless people in a function arranged at Banglabandha border in Tentulia upazila maintaining physical distance on Tuesday afternoon.

Under the food assistance programme, each of the beneficiary families is receiving a sac containing six kg of rice, two kg each of flour and pulse and one packet of iodized salt.

On the occasion, Colonel Zaman said distribution of the foodstuffs among 1,000 jobless, distressed and needy frontier people of Panchagarh district will be completed by May 19 next.

“The BGB will continue distributing foodstuffs among the jobless, distressed, helpless and needy people of different frontiers areas until the COVID-19 situation becomes normal,” he added.

Commanding Officer of Panchagarh 18 BGB Battalion Lt. Colonel Khondker Anisur Rahman and other BGB officials were present.
