Dhaka, Tashkent to form JWG for trade, investment: Tipu

DHAKA, May 12, 2020 (BSS) – Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi today said
Bangladesh and Uzbekistan would form Joint Working Group (JWG) to boost
bilateral trade and investment through removing different barriers.

“Bangladesh is keen to increase trade and cooperation between the two
countries. However, there are some complications in trade. It is possible to
resolve the complexities by forming a joint working group comprising the
experts from both the countries,” he said.

The minister said this at a view exchange meeting with Uzbekistan Deputy
Prime Minister and Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Sardor Umurzakov
through video conference from the secretariat in the city.

Among others, Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Adviser
Salman Fazlur Rahman and Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi also
attended the video conference.

During the meeting, they discussed various issues to enhance the trade and
economic relations between the two countries.

Based on the discussion, they took decision to form a joint working group
to increase trade and economic relations between the two countries.
