SHARIATPUR, May 12, 2020 (BSS) – Around 40,000 jobless families of Palong and Jajira upazilas in the district got food assistance amid the corona situation.
Ruling Awami League (AL) lawmaker of Shariatpur-1 Iqbal Hossen Apu distributed the food assistance among them at his own initiative.
“I stood beside these jobless families in line with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s instruction as no people doesn’t suffer hardship for food during the corona situation in the country,” said Apu, also an executive member of the central AL.
As part of the directives, he said 40,000 people, living in two municipalities and 25 unions of Palong and Jajira upazilas, are getting food aid since the outbreak of the COVID-19.
Apart from this, seed distribution is also going on among the farmers as per the prime minister’s instruction.
He, however, assured continuation of necessary assistance including food aid distribution among the needy people until the situation becomes normal.
