Distressed people get relief assistance in Netrakona

Netrakona, May 10, 2020 (BSS) -Distressed people of the district are
getting relief as the government continues its efforts to mitigate their
sufferings rendered by the COVID-19 pandemic.

State minister for social welfare Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru MP has visited the
houses of over 300 distressed, needy and jobless people

in Netrakona sadar and Barhatta upazilas during last three days aiming to
inquire their condition.

During his visit, Khasru distributed foodstuffs including rice, pulse,
edible oil, and masks, sanitizer and cash money among the poverty-stricken
and jobless people in the areas.

Talking to the people, the state minister urged them to stay in house and
strictly follow the health guidelines, wear masks and maintain social
distancing to contain the COVID-19 spread.

“I came to the door-steps of destitute, needy and jobless people to inquire
their condition and help them for mitigating their livelihood- related
sufferings following the directives of the prime minister Sheikh Hasina,”
Khasru said, assuring them of all possible help on behalf of the government.

Local Awami League leaders and public representatives accompanied the
state minister during the visit.
