1,600 jobless families get rice in Rangpur’s Saddyapuskorini union

RANGPUR, May 10, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 1,600 jobless families of Saddyapuskorini union in Rangpur Sadar upazila of Rangpur district received 10 kg of rice in three phases in last one month in the wake of coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Under the special relief activities of the government, Chairman of Saddyapuskorini union parishad Alhaj Md. Sohel Rana distributed five tonnes of rice among 500 jobless and needy families in the third phase on Saturday afternoon.

As per the health directives of the government, physical distancing was strictly maintained in an informal function arranged on the occasion of Saddyapuskorini union parishad premises to prevent COVID-19 spread.

Rangpur Sadar Upazila Education Officer (Tag Officer) Khairul Alam, General Secretary of Saddyapuskorini union Awami League Nazrul Islam Mantu, its Organizing Secretary Mahmudul Islam Biplob and members of the union parishad were present.

Earlier, Chairman Sohel Rana distributed 11 tonnes of rice among 1,100 families on April 29 in the second phase and three tonnes of rice among 300 jobless families of the union in the first phase on April 7 last to assist them amid the coronavirus situation.
