12 more tested coronavirus positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, May 9, 2020 (BSS) – Twelve more people tested coronavirus (COVID-
19) positive today after examining a total of 282 samples at the two COVID-19
Laboratories in Rangpur city and Dinajpur town of Rangpur division.

“The total number of coronavirus infected patients rose to 312 with the
detection of the new 12 coronavirus positive people in the division today,”
Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division
Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS.

The 12 newly detected COVID-19 infected patients include eight of Rangpur,
one of Kurigram and three of Dinajpur districts.

“The district-wise break of the detected COVID-19 patients stands at 128
in Rangpur, 11 in Panchagarh, 38 in Nilphamari, 12 in Lalmonirhat, 34 in
Kurigram, 24 in Thakurgaon, 41 in Dinajpur and 24 Gaibandha districts in
Rangpur division,” Dr. Siddiqui added.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of Rangpur Medical College (RMC) Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu
said nine patients were detected after testing 94 samples at the COVID-19
Laboratory at RMC today.

“The nine newly detected patients at COVID-19 Laboratory at RMC include
eight of Senpara, Jummapara and Islambag areas in Rangpur metropolis and one
of Nageshwari upazila in Kurigram district,” Dr. Lyzu added.

Meanwhile, three new coronavirus infected patients were detected after
testing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical
College ((MARMC) in Dinajpur town today.

Talking to BSS, Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker said all
of the three newly infected patients, including a female, hailed from
Birampur upazila of Dinajpur district.
