Govt provides Tk 9.17 lakh assistance to poor Qawmi students in Magura
MAGURA, May 9, 2020 (BSS) – The government has provided Taka 9.15 lakh
assistance to 79 Qawmi madrasahs in Magura district to distribute the amount
among the poor and orphan madrasha students to help them cope with
coronavirus plight.
The amount was allocated from the Prime Minister’s Relief and Welfare Fund
for the poor and orphan madrasha students.
The cheques of the assistance were distributed among the authorities of
the Qwami madrasahs on Magura sadar upazila premises today in presence of
Magura-1 MP advocate Md Shifuzzaman Shikhor.
Chaired by deputy director of Local Government Division Mahabubur Rahman,
the cheque distribution ceremony was attended, among others, by Magura Zia
Parishad chairman Pankoj Kumer Kundu, sadar upazila chairman Abu Nasir Bablu
and sadar upazila executive officer Abu Sofian.
While distributing cheques among the madrasahs, Shikhor said the Awami
League leaders, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, are
distributing relief among the poor and destitute people.
He said the prime minister recognised the certificate of Dawra-e-Hadith
(Taqmil) from Qawmi madrasahs as equivalent to certificate of master’s degree
(Islamic Studies and Arabic).
“The premier also did not forget them even in the coronavirus crisis and
that’s why she gave assistance to the poor and orphan students of Qawmi
madrashas,” he added.
