CUMILLA, May 9, 2020 (BSS) – Some 10,000 poor families were provided with
food assistance under personal financing of Finance Minister AHM Mustafa
Kamal at Nangolkot, Lalmai and Sadar Dakshin upazilas in the district today.
Out of these 10,000 poor families, around 4,000 families received the food
assistance at Nangolkot upazila while 3,000 families each received the food
assistance of the Finance Minister at Sadar Dakshin and Lalmai upazilas.
The food assistance of the Finance Minister include rice, pulse, edible
oil, potatoes, salt, onion, vermicelli, sugar, soap and gram.
Concerned Union parishad chairmen and local Awami League leaders
distributed these food items among the poor families of these upazilas. Such
food materials were also distributed among poor families in various areas
yesterday.
Deputy Commissioner Abul Fazal Mir, Police Super Syed Nurul Islam, Upazila
Parishad Chairman Shamsuddin Kalu, Finance Minister’s APS KM Singho Ratan,
Pourashava Mayor Abdul Malek, UNO Lamaiya Saiful, Vice Chairman Abu Yusuf
Bhuiyan, Upazila relief committee convenor Prof Joynal Abedin, Upazila Awami
League Joint General Secretaries Nurullah Mazumder, Towhidur Rahman Mazumder,
Upazila BCL President Abdur Razzak Sumon, General Secretary Omar Faruk Mamun
and other AL leaders and workers were present, among others, during the
distribution of these food items.
