7 more test COVID-19 positive in Khulna division

KHULNA, May 09, 2020 (BSS) – Seven more persons were diagnosed coronavirus (COVID-19) positive after testing their samples at the three COVID-19 laboratories in Khulna, Kustia and Jashore in the last 24 hours till noon today, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 202 in the division.

The newly detected COVID-19 patients include four in Jhenaidah, one each in Khulna, Magura and Meherpur districts under the division.

“We received 187 samples of suspected coronavirus patients at KMC in Khulna and four samples in Jashore and the remaining ones in Kustia laboratories in the last 24 hours and seven of those were found COVID-19 positive,” said Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akther.

“Three COVID-19 laboratories are now operating at Khulna Medical College (KMC) in Khulna, ‘Genome Center’ of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) and Kustia General Hospital for testing collected samples of suspected COVID-19 patients in the division,” she said.

She informed that the total number of infected patients rose to 202 after testing 3,844 samples at the three regional COVID-19 laboratories till today 12 noon today, since April 7.

Of the total 202 patients, 17 are in Khulna, three in Bagerhat, two in Satkhira, 73 in Jashore, 37 in Jhenaidah, nine in Magura, 13 in Narail, 18 in Kustia, 24 in Chuadanga and six in Meherpur, she said.

Of them, five patients died, so far, while 51 patients are undergoing treatment at the isolation ward, nine were released after recovery and the rest of the patients are taking treatment at their respective homes.
