Tagore’s birth anniversary celebrated digitally amid COVID-19 outbreak

DHAKA, May 8, 2020 (BSS) – In the wake of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic,
the nation today celebrated digitally the 159th birth anniversary of
Biswakabi Rabindranath Tagore, who reshaped Bengali literature and music as
well as arts of Indian subcontinent with contextual modernism.

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate
message on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore.

Marking the birth anniversary of Rabindranath, a special one-hour
programme titled ‘Ami Voi Korbo Na, Voi Korbo Na’ was aired on Bangladesh
Television simultaneously and various private Television (TV) channels under
the auspices of Ministry of Cultural Affairs.

State Minister for Cultural Affairs K M Khalid gave welcome speech at the
programme.

The special programme on Rabindranath was jointly organized by Bangladesh
Shilpakala Academy and Bangladesh Television under the auspices of Ministry
of Cultural Affairs.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky
made the programme while Director General of Bangladesh Television SM Harun-
ur-Rashid was in the overall supervision.

On the 25th of Baishakh in 1268 Bengali year, Rabindranath, the
fountainhead of Bengali wisdom, was born at Jorasanko in Kolkata.
