Navy provides food assistance to poor in remote, coastal areas

DHAKA, May 6, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Navy today provided food materials,
including Iftar items, among the poor and helpless people after going to
their houses in the coastal and remote areas of Khulna and Chattogram.

As part of their countrywide operations to prevent and control COVID-19,
the Naval Force today sprayed disinfectant at various roads and footpaths in
the capital and also throughout the country, provided treatment facilities
and conducted various awareness campaigns, said an ISPR press release.

The release said that the Naval contingent today distributed foodstuff
among some 1,600 families in the coastal areas in Barguna.

Besides, Iftar items were provided to some 300 poor families at Gollamari
and Rupsha areas in Khulna.

On the other hand, Mongla Naval contingent provided food materials among
some 1,300 poor and hapless families at Digraj Bazar, Sundarban, Mithakhali,
Mongla Port Area, Burirdanga and Charkanai areas.

Apart from this, the Naval contingents provided food materials and
treatment facilities to the poor and helpless families in various areas of
Teknaf, Sandwip and Hatia upazilas.

The Naval personnel are also motivating people through loudspeakers to
maintain social distancing, hand washing regularly, using masks and following
the health safety guidelines.
