One dies of COVID-19, 19 more infected in Ctg
CHATTOGRAM, May 06, 2020 (BSS) – A man died of coronavirus (COVID-19) at
Chattogram General Hospital (CGH) this morning.
The deceased was identified as Iskandor Mirza, 50, of city’s Saraipara
area.
Dr Golam Mostafa Jamal, resident medical officer of CGH, said the patient
lost his battle against the virus around 11 am today.
The patient was first admitted to a local clinic on April 21 with high
fever and breathing complications. After he was tested positive for
coronavirus on April 27, he was shifted to the CGH , a dedicated health
centre for the treatment of Covid-19 patients, Dr Mostafa added.
With this, the death toll from coronavirus in the Chattogram district
reached nine while the number of confirmed cases is 129 till today, said
Jamal.
In the last 24 hours, the highest number of 19 corona positive patients
has been detected in Chattogram.
Earlier, a maximum of 16 people were identified as corona infected patients
here on Tuesday.
Of the total 129 infected persons, 32 were released after recovery and the
rest of the patients are taking treatment at the different hospitals in
Chattogram, the sources added.
