Tazul urges engineers to do work with caution

DHAKA, May 4, 2020 (BSS)- Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and Co-operatives Minister Md Tazul Islam today urged the executive engineers of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) to implement the development works by taking proper safety measures during the Coronavirus epidemic.

“LGED executive engineers at the district-level are in the field during the pandemic . . . but the situation creates some obstacle,” he told this while addressing a video conference on evaluating the Annual Development Programme (ADP) and the activities of LGED to the executive engineers of 64 districts from his residence in the capital.

The minister hoped that the crisis would be overcome if the officials would work together.

The executive engineers informed the minister about the progress of their works and problems which they are facing during the present situation.

They informed that there are some problems in carpeting on roads as the skilled workers went their respective homes.

Tazul said the government has directed the administrations to help solve the problems in phases.

The minister urged the engineers to implement the ADP and other development works properly ensuring quality.

The minister expressed his satisfaction as about 75 to 80 percent works of ADP were implemented and hoped that the cent percent works will be done within the stipulated time.

Local Government Division Senior Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed, additional secretary Mezbah Uddin and LGED chief engineer Md Abdur Rashid Khan also joined the video conference.
