Foodstuffs for 2700 Ansar-VDP members in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, May 4, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 2,700 members of Ansar and Village Defense Party (VDP) will be given foodstuffs to cope with the present crisis situation caused by the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

Each of the beneficiary people will be given five kilograms of rice, two kilograms of potato, one kilogram of pulse and onion each, one liter of edible oil, a soap and mask each equally in all nine upazilas in the district.

Rajshahi Range Director of Ansar-VDP Fakhrul Islam opened the distribution program at Naohata High School playground under Paba Upazila in the district today.

District Commandant Jahid Hossain, Battalion Director Shah Ahmmad Fazley Rabbi and Assistant District Commandant Rabiul Islam were present at the opening ceremony.

On the occasion, 300 Ansar-VDP members were given the support.

Fakhrul Islam told the newsmen that the Ansar-VDP members remain in active to stem the virus outbreak everywhere in the region.

They have, so far, distributed 20,000 leaflets to create awareness among the public in general about the adverse impact of the virus.

Side by side with the humanitarian and protective support, many of the grassroots populations were brought under various motivational and awareness campaigns to fight COVID-19 outbreak.

The village level members are disseminating ideas among the community people on how to use the protective gears like face masks effectively besides maintaining social and physical distancing.

Besides, the community people are also learning about how to wash hands and follow other health related guidelines to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The field level members are disseminating the messages in all the communities explaining how the coronavirus spreads, how people can protect themselves and their families from its infection and how they can understand symptoms of the disease and seek healthcare.

As a whole, they are disseminating awareness messages on coronavirus among the community people so that they can protect themselves from the invisible enemy, he added.
