RAJSHAHI, May 4, 2020 (BSS)- A total of 700 pre-primary school students including 300 from the ethnic minority communities were given foodstuffs assistance aimed at making them school oriented amidst the adverse impact of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Each of the recipient students were given 20 kilograms of rice, five kilograms of potato, two kilograms of salt and pulse each, one kilogram of sugar and suji each, two liters of edible oil, three soaps and face masks each and some necessary medicine for primary treatment.

DASCOH Foundation extended the support and organized the distribution programmes at three separate places in Nachole and Gomastapur Upazila in Chapainawabgonj district through maintaining social distancing on Sunday.

The Education programme of Netz Germany financially supported the initiative as emergency works to respond to COVID-19.

Akramul Haque, Chief Executive Officer of DASCOH Foundation, said the initiative of extending food support had been adopted to help the school-going students as their parents have become jobless at present due to the global pandemic.

More humanitarian support is needed to help the daily wage earning and other hand-to-mouth families to cope with the troubled situation, he added.
