4,196 in quarantine in Khulna division
KHULNA , May 03, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 26,318 people were quarantined and of them, 22,122 were released so far while 4,196 still remain in isolation in Khulna division where 144 people were detected coronavirus (COVID-19) positive till 12 noon today.
Officials in the health and civil administration said efforts have been enhanced in inspiring people to stay home and ensure physical distancing to prevent community transmission of COVID-19 in all 10 districts of the division.
Assistant Director (Health) for Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akther said 253 people have been quarantined at home or institutions afresh in all 10 districts under Khulna division in the last 24 hours till 12 noon today.
A total of 369 people were released from home or institutional quarantine as they showed no symptoms of coronavirus in last 24 hours, she added.
Since the beginning, a total of 1,894 suspected coronavirus patients were put in institutional quarantine in the division and 1,240 of them were released and 276 admitted to the isolation units of different hospitals, and of them, 166 were released so far in Khulna division, Dr. Ferdousi said.
“A total of 144 COVID-19 positive patients were detected till 12 noon today in the division. Of them, 16 are in Khulna, three in Bagerhat, one in Satkhira, , 57 in Jashore, 21 in Jhenaidah, five in Magura, 13 in Narail, 16 in Kustia, nine in Chuadanga and three in Meherpur.” she added.
Of them, three patients died, so far, while 35 patients are undergoing treatment at the isolation ward, six were released after recovery and the rest of the patients are taking treatment at their respective homes.
Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana said a total of 50,816 personal protective equipments (PPEs) have, so far, been distributed among the frontline healthcare personnel to tackle the present novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic to protect them from the virus infection in all 10 districts under Khulna division.
“We have 34,891 more PPEs in stock for distribution,” she said, adding 2,768 N95 face masks were distributed and another 677 remain stockpiled at present.
