CUMILLA, May 2, 2020 (BSS) – Food materials were distributed among the
imams of 482 mosques here in Cumilla today on behalf of Finance Minister AHM
Mustafa Kamal.
Lalmai Upazila Nirbahi Officer KM Yasir Arafat handed over these food
materials among some 482 imams on the upazila parishad premises on behalf of
the Finance Minister. Local Awami League leaders and workers were present on
the occasion.
Earlier, the Lalmai UNO opened a hotline number to provide food assistance
to those people who are job-less and middle class without revealing their
identity following the directives from the Finance Minister.
The upazila administration has so far provided food assistance to some 848
families including 13 expatriate families after receiving SMS in the hotline.
Besides, till April 30, food assistance was provided to some 14,000 poor
and helpless families under both public and private initiative.
Lalmai UNO KM Yasir Arafat said such food assistance on behalf of the
Finance Minister would continue until the situation improves owing to the
Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
