Govt reaches relief to 4 crore people amid COVID-19 crisis

DHAKA, May 2, 2020 (BSS) – About 4 crore people across the country have
received relief assistance as the government continues its efforts to
mitigate their sufferings in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

A total of 124,000 metric tons of rice has so far been allocated for 64
districts while 92,341 metric tons of rice distributed among more than 3.95
crore people of 93,38,000 families as humanitarian assistance till yesterday
(Friday), an official handout said here today.

Besides, the government has so far allocated about Taka 64 crore in cash,
including Taka 52.17 crore for providing cash assistance to the 64 districts
across the country while Taka 41.69 crore has already been distributed in
cash among 2.42 crore people of 51.77 lakh families, the handout added.

A total of Taka 11.95 crore was allocated as baby food aid while Taka 8.42
crore has so far been distributed among 5.26 lakh people of 2.63 lakh
families.
