KHULNA, May 02, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 142 coronavirus (COVID-19) infected patients were detected till 12 noon today showing a limited community transmission of the virus at a few places in Khulna division.
“We received 142 samples of suspected coronavirus patients in the last 24 hours in KMC and two others laboratories in the division and no more COVID-19 positive case was found after testing the samples in the division ,” said Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akther.
She said the total number of infected patients rose to 142 after testing a total of 2,569 samples at the three regional COVID-19 laboratories till 12 noon today, since April 7.
Of the total 142 patients, 14 are in Khulna, one in Satkhira, three in Bagerhat, 57 in Jashore, 22 in Jhenaidah, four in Magura, 13 in Narail, 16 in Kustia, nine in Chuadanga and three in Meherpur.
Of them, three patients died, so far, while 36 patients are undergoing treatment at the isolation ward, six were released after recovery and the rest of the patients are taking treatment at their respective homes.
The total number of quarantined people rose to 26,065 today as 150 more people were put in quarantine at home or in institutions in the last 24 hours till 12noon today.
“So far, a total of 21,753 people were released from home or institutional quarantine and 4,312 people are remaining in home or institutional quarantine in all 10 districts of Khulna division.
A total of 1,800 suspected COVID-19 patients were put in institutional quarantine in different hospitals so far and of them, 1,204 were released in the division.
“Besides, 275 suspected coronavirus patients were admitted to the isolation units of different hospitals since the beginning, and of them, 161 were released and 114 are undergoing treatments,” Dr. Ferdousi said.
