Light to moderate rain likely across country

DHAKA, May 02, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by lightning flashes and temporary gusty or squally wind at many places of the country in the next 24 hours ending at 9 am tomorrow.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by lightning flashes and temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at many places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country,” said a Met Office bulletin issued here this morning.

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the bulletin added.

The highest temperature yesterday was recorded 34.4 degrees Celsius at Rangamati and Sylhet in Chattogram and Sylhet respectively and today’s minimum temperature was 20.2 degrees Celsius at Tetulia in Rangpur.

Maximum rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded 37 millimeters (mm) at Faridpur in Dhaka division.

The sun sets at 6:28 pm today and rises at 5:23 am tomorrow in Dhaka.
