Agro machineries being produced at Bogra BSCIC

DHAKA, May 1, 2020 (BSS) – Despite COVID-19 outbreak, different industrial units in Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) Bogra Industrial City are continuing their production of agricultural machineries and other light engineering products for providing necessary equipments to the farmers during the Boro season.

“There are 45 different types of light engineering factories in the Bogra BSCIC. With the overall support and supervision of BSCIC, 35 factories are running their production. The factories are producing light engineering equipment worth more than Taka 1 crore daily,” said an Industries Ministry press release today.

The equipments are also being exported to India, Nepal and Bhutan after meeting the demand of the whole country.

Bogra BSCIC Industrial City Officer AKM Mahfuzur Rahman said the industrial city meets about 70 percent of the total demand for agricultural machineries in the country.

“Considering the demand, the industrial city is producing different equipments, such as centrifugal pumps, pistons and tubewell,” he added.

He said that the industrial establishments of Bogra BSCIC industrial city pay revenue of Taka 183 crore every year as value added tax (VAT).

About 10,000 people are working in this industrial city, he added.
