20,249 released from quarantine in Khulna division

KHULNA, May 01, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 20,249 people have, so far, been
released from home or institutional quarantine, out of the total 25,915, as
they showed no symptoms of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), in the division, an
official said here today.

While talking to BSS, Assistant Director (Health) in Khulna Dr. Ferdousi
Akther said a total of 20,249 people were released from home quarantine,
1,081 from institutional quarantine and 166 others from isolation in the
division till 12 noon today as they showed no coronavirus symptoms.

Meanwhile, a total of 287 people were kept in home or institutional
quarantine afresh during the last 24 hours , she said. Among them, 35 were
kept in quarantine in Bagerhat , 50 in Satkhira, 93 in Jashore, nine in
Jhenaidah, 22 in Magura, nine in Narail, 29 in Kustia, 26 in Chuadanga and 14
in Meherpur, she added.

With them, the number of quarantined people stood at 25,915 in the division
and a total of 355 were released in the last 24 hours as they showed no
symptoms of COVID-19, Dr. Ferdousi said.

“A total 141 COVID-19 positive cases were detected in the division till 12
noon today, after testing their samples in three regional laboratories since
April 7” she said.

Of the total 141 patients, 14 are in Khulna ,one in Satkhira, three in
Bagerhat, 56 in Jashore, 22 in Jhenaidah, four in Magura, 13 in Narail, 16 in
Kustia, nine in Chuadanga and three in Meherpur.

Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda sultana said additional steps have
been taken to contain COVID-19 spread and provide treatments to the infected
patients in the government and private sector hospitals having necessary
facilities in Khulna division.
