1,118 more people released from quarantine in Rajshahi division

RAJSHAHI, May 1, 2020 (BSS) – 1,118 more people were given clearance certificates after expiry of their respective 14-day quarantine period in all eight districts under Rajshahi division in the last 24 hours till 8am today.

With this, the number of total released people stood to 14,803 and 8,438 others remained in home and institutional quarantined in the division at present.

Divisional Director of Health Dr Gopendra Nath Acharya said a total of 23,241 had, so far, been put under home quarantine since March 10 last to prevent community transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19).

Meanwhile, a total of 580 new persons have been kept under home quarantine as part of the present hectic efforts of bringing all the suspected people under quarantine in the division over the last 24 hours till this morning.

Among the new ones, four have been home-quarantined in Rajshahi, 203 in Chapainawabgonj, 197 in Naogaon, 12 in Natore, 67 in Joypurhat, 25 in Bogura, 44 in Sirajganj and 28 in Pabna districts.

Dr Gopen Acharya said a total of 106 confirmed patients for COVID-19 are undergoing treatment in corona units while 191 others in isolation units of different hospitals and another 103 were released.

He added that utmost emphasis has been given to bring all the suspected people under quarantine as it is being adjudged as an important means of containing the community transmission of the virus.

The district-wise break-up of detected COVID-19 patients now stands at 14 in Rajshahi, two in Chapainawabganj, 17 in Naogaon, nine in Natore, 32 in Joypurhat, 20 in Bogura, two in Sirajgonj and ten in Pabna districts.

Following confirmation of Covid-19 cases, the respective houses of the infected persons at different areas in the division were placed on lockdown.

Dr Gopen said the whereabouts of the persons, who came in contact with COVID-19 patients, are being brought to notice and they were asked to remain in home quarantine so that the virus cannot spread further.
