Essential food distribution among poor continues in Khulna

KHULNA, April 30, 2020 (BSS) – The local administrations as well as private and public representatives continue distributing essential food items among the destitute families in different parts of the division by maintaining social distancing amid coronavirus situation.

Khulna divisional administration, district administration, Khulna city corporation, Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Navy Khulna, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP), local Awami League (AL), Jubo League, socio-cultural activists and non-government and volunteer organisations keep distributing essential foods among poor to mitigate their hardship caused by the outbreak of coronavirus.

Mayor of Khulna City Corporation Talukder Abdul Khaleque distributed 350 Maunds of rice, vegetables and others essential relief materials among 1,760 needy and jobless people at Zogi and Arong Ghata primary schools in Digholia upazila and 22, 23 no- word’s in the city yesterday.

Each of the beneficiaries received a sac containing 8-kg rice, vegetables, potato, onion, soya-bin oil, pulse, soaps and iodized salt from the stockpile of supplies donated by the affluent people.

Deputy Commissioner Md Helal Hossain, General Secretary of City Awami League MDA Babul Rana, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ziaur Rahman, Director of Khulna Divisional Labour Directorate Md. Mizanur Rahman, among others, accompanied him at that time.

Besides, the Navy personnel of Khulna, Bagerhat and Barguna assisted the local administrations for distributing relief materials and iftar items among 900 poor families and handing over 300 leaflets on awareness building as well as spraying disinfectant on various streets of three districts, said an official release yesterday.

Apart from this, the Navy contingent distributed foodstuffs, leaflets and masks among 578 poor families in Digrajbazar, Chadpai, Mongla Bandor, Makhordhon and Kumarkhali of Mongla upazila in Bagerhat, the release said.
