Lab to be set up for corona sample test in Jalampur

DHAKA, April 30, 2020 (BSS) – A lab will be set up at the Sheikh Hasina Medical College Hospital in Jamalpur to test the samples of coronavirus suspected people soon.

The people of Jamalpur, Sirajganj, Sherpur and Kurigram districts will be able to undergo coronavirus test at this lab, said State Minister for Information Dr Murad Hasan on Wednesday.

He said a machine ‘Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction’ (RTPCR) will be brought from Chattogram to Jamalpur today.

The state minister said Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman, who hails from Jamalpur, received the machine from Chattogram Animal Science University yesterday.

He said the machine will be set up at the Microbiology Department of Sheikh Hasina Medical College with utmost efforts of former Textiles and Jute minister Mirza Azam, MP, and samples of corona suspected people would be tested through this RTPCR machine after seven days.

He hoped that about 1.50 crore people of those districts including Jamalpur will be benefited through setting up the lab.

Dr Murad thanked Mirza Azam, MP, Jamalpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Anamul Haque and Police Super Md Delowar Hossain for their utmost efforts of setting up the lab at Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Jamalpur.
