RANGPUR, April 29, 2020 (BSS) – In the wake of coronavirus (COVID-19)
pandemic across the globe, an 80-year old coronavirus infected patient was
released after his recovery in Rangpur today.

The pleasant occasion happened at the Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospital
(DCIH), an annexed part of Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH), bringing
smiles to the patient Md. Moslem Uddin, 80.

Superintendent of the DCIH Dr. SM NurunNabi with his colleagues, nurses and
staff greeted Moslem Uddin on his recovery with flowers and handed over a
discharge letter before bidding a pleasurable farewell to him on the hospital
compound this afternoon.

Talking to BSS, Moslem Uddin, a resident of village Awliaganj in Madhupur
union of Badarganj upazila of the district, said that he returned to Rangpur
from Dhaka on April 1 last after his month-long participation in
TablighiJamaat.

“Soon after arriving from Dhaka, I went to the house of my son-in-law
inKhamarMour area in Rangpur city and I fell sick with various symptoms
including fever, runny nose and cough,” he said.

As his conditions continued deteriorating, Moslem Uddin was admitted to the
Medicine Ward of RMCH on April 14 when the on-duty physicians suggested him
to test his samples as a suspected coronavirus infected patient.

Accordingly, samples of Moslem Uddin were collected and tested at the
COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RMC) on April 16, then he was
detected as coronavirus positive.

“After continuing treatments at the RMCH, I was shifted to the DCIH on
April 20 where I got unbelievably excellent treatments and care of the
physicians, nurses, staff and cleaners,” he said.

He said he started feeling physically better and stronger after getting
proper treatments and care at the DCIH.

“Finally, I was tested for COVID-19 negative twice subsequently after
every week and discharged from the DCIH today,” Moslem Uddin said, thanking
all physicians, nurses, staff and cleaners of the hospital as they treated
him like their own relative.

While expressing his feelings,DCIH Superintendent Dr. SM NurunNabi told BSS
that courage of the COVID-19 patient is the most vital factor to easily get
recovered from the disease.

Terming the prevailing negative attitude of the neighbours toward the
coronavirus infected patients as the biggest obstacle for not only the COVID-
19 patients, but also for their family members, in providing treatments at
home.

He called upon the mass media to inform the people that they should not be
panicked from the coronavirus outbreak as the rate of death from the virus
infection is very low and the infected patients can get better treatments at
home for quicker recovery.
