Over 1.61 lakh families provided with relief in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, April 28, 2020 (BSS) – District administration has distributed
relief among161,400 poor families in the district in order to mitigate their
sufferings amid the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The district administration has provided the relief stuff to the people,
who become jobless due to the ongoing lockdown declared to contain the spread
of coronavirus, said sources atdistrict relief and rehabilitation office.

Under the food assistance programme,the district administration distributed
1,614 tonnes of rice among 161,400 families at seven upazilas of the
district.

Among the recipient families, 15,800 are in Dewanganj, 18,500 in Islampur,
48,500 in Jamalpur Sadar, 18,500 in Madarganj, 26,500 in Melandah, 19,700 in
Sarishabari and 13,900 in Bakshiganj upazilas.

Under the programme, 55,380 families also got lentil, oil and potato.

Beside, 10,127 families also got baby food such as milk, Suji and sugar.

District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Md Nayeb Ali said food
distribution programme will continue in the days to come to help the
destitute people.
