2nd phase food distribution of Dr Hasan begins in Rangunia

CHATTOGRAM, April 27, 2020 (BSS) – The second phase of food distribution,
under the personal initiative of Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, began
in Ranguina upazila today.

In this phase, the food items will be distributed among 5,000 poor families
on the occasion of the holy month Ramadan, while about 300 families received
food assistance today.

Earlier in the first phase, Dr Hasan, also Awami League joint general
secretary, distributed food items among 3,000 families in different unions of
Rangunia amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

In the second phase, the food distribution began on the premises of
Rangunia municipality through the NNK Foundation, a family organisation of
the information minister.

The food items were distributed today among the families affected by the
coronavirus crisis today in presence of Rangunia Municipality mayor Shahjahan
Sikder, and NNK Foundation chairman and information minister’s younger
brother Khaled Mahmud.

Religious Affairs Secretary of Rangunia upazila AL Jasim Uddin Talukder,
its Publicity and Publication Secretary Emrul Karim Rashed, municipality
councilors Md Selim and Nurul Afsar, and teacher Ranjan Barua were, among
others, present on the occasion.

Khaled Mahmud said the food items were distributed in different areas of
Rangunia upazila, including Rangunia Municipality, Mariumnagar and
Chandraghona Kadamtali unions, today in the second phase under Dr Hasan’s
personal initiative.

He said the information minister’s food distribution programme will
continue throughout the Ramadan to help the poor and destitute people of the
upazila in this crisis.

Each family got 10 kg of essential commodities, including rice, edible oil
and potato, he said, adding that the information minister would continue food
distribution among the poor in Rangunia maintaining social distancing.
