DHAKA, April 26, 2020 (BSS) – Local Government, Rural Development and
Cooperatives Minister Md Tazul Islam today said incidents of relief
plundering now remain under control due to the government’s immediate actions
against the public representatives involved in the misappropriation.

“Wherever we received reports of corruption over relief distribution, we
have taken immediate actions. A limited number of people were involved in
relief misappropriation. I think the incidents (relief plundering) have come
under control for taking immediate steps against the corruption,” he said.

The LGRD minister came up with the observation at a press briefing at his
ministry office in the Secretariat here this afternoon.

Noting that offense exists all over the world, Tazul said but it reduces
when punishment is inflicted on the offenders.

Replying to a question from a journalist on dengue issue, he said, “We
would control the dengue situation if we all become aware about it. However,
we have procured insecticide in this regard”.

Besides, city corporations, Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) and
Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) have been tasked to clean wastages from
channels and drains soon, the LGRD minister added.
