COVID-19 infected doctor shifted to Dhaka by helicopter
DHAKA, April 24, 2020 (BSS) – Assistant Professor of Urology Department at
Khulna Medical College Hospital DrMasud Ahmed, who was infected with
coronavirus, was transferred to Dhaka from Khulna in critical condition by a
MI-17 SH helicopter of the Bangladesh Air Force yesterday.
An ISPR press release today said Dr. Masud Ahmed was flown to Dhaka from
Khulna yesterday night by a BAF MI-17SH helicopter for better treatment.
The release said coronavirus was detected in the body of Dr. Masud Ahmed on
April 18. He was being treated at Khulna Corona Hospital (Diabetic Hospital).
When his physical condition got deteriorated there, attempts were made to
bring him to Dhaka by road. But, as it was risky to bring him to Dhaka by
road, he was brought to the capital by a MI-17SH helicopter of the Air Force.
Later, he was taken to Mugda Medical College Hospital.
The ISPR press release said Bangladesh Air Force has been providing
assistance in dealing with any kind of national disaster.
In this coronavirus situation, Bangladesh Air Force is providing emergency
air transport and medical evacuation assistance in aid to civil power under
Bangladesh Armed Forces.
