37 COVID-19 patients detected in Khulna division till today

KHULNA, April 24, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 37 coronavirus infected patients have been detected in the division till 12 noon today after testing a total 1,309 samples at the two regional molecular laboratories in the division since April 7.

“We received 59 samples of suspected coronavirus patients in the last 24 hours and one of those tested positive,” said Vice-Principal of Khulna Medical College (KMC) Dr Mehedi Newaz.

The newly detected COVID-19 infected patient is an EPI technologist of Rupsha Upazila Health Complex in Khulna district.

“Of the total 37 COVID-19 patients, eight are in Khulna, six in Jashore, seven in Chuadanga, five in Kustia, two in Magura, two in Meherpur, six in Narail and one in Bagerhat districts,” Assistant Director(Health) Dr. Ferdousi Akther told BSS.

Besides, a coronavirus infected physician of KMCH has been airlifted to Dhaka last night for better treatment.

Khulna district administration has given three requisitioned ambulances to the Khulna medical college (KMC) authority for the purpose of transporting the infected patients for emergency treatment and collection of samples from COVID-19 patients in Khulna district.

Deputy Commissioner Md Helal Hossain handed over the ambulance in a meeting on district coronavirus prevention and treatment management committee held at DC’s room yesterday afternoon while Director of KMCH Dr. Munshi Md. Reza Sekandar, its Vice-Principal Mehdi Newaz, Civil Surgeon of Khulna Dr. Suzat Ahmed, among others, were present on the meeting.
