COVID-19 will not cause food deficiency: Tazul

CUMILLA, April 23, 2020 (BSS) – Noting the country will see no food
deficiency, even if the COVID-19 situation continues for a long time,
Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tazul
Islam today said the government has taken adequate preparations for
giving food assistance to the people.

“There will be no shortage of government’s food and relief
activities, even if the corona situation lasts for long days… the
government has enough preparation and capacity to this end,” he told
journalists after monitoring the relief distribution activities in his
constituency (Laksam and Manoharganj) areas.

He called for maintaining social distancing to contain the global
pandemic coronavirus and urged all to follow the health guidelines
properly and stay at home.

All ministries are working with sincerity under the dynamic
leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said, adding, “We will
be able to contain the coronavirus soon”.

Cumilla Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Abul Fazal Mir and
Superintendent of Police Syed Nurul Islam were present on the
occasion, among others.

Besides, local Awami League (AL) leaders and activists distributed
relief items among 5,000 families at Burichang and Brahmanpara
upazilas of the district.

AL presidium member and former law minister Advocate Abdul Matin
Khasru, MP, donated the relief goods.
